While you can easily get around Chicago on foot, by car, bike, or cab, The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is the quickest and most affordable way to travel throughout the city and into the suburbs. The CTA provides train and bus transportation to the city and 40 surrounding suburbs. With over 1.5 million rides a day, it is the second largest transportation system in the country. The CTA runs public transportation within the city while the Metra, Amtrak or PACE bus system provide services into and out of the city.

The CTA is extremely organized and offers a map or trip planner which can assist you in getting to your destination in a timely manner.

If public transportation isn’t your thing, no need to worry……a taxi will most likely pass you by anywhere in the city! If not, a couple numbers to keep handy are:

Yellow Cab
312-TAXI-CAB (312-829-4888)

Checker Cab
312-CHECKER (312-243-2537)

If you are looking for some adventure and are up for a river cruise for fun, or an alternative route to the office, visit Wendella boats. Wendella boats fairy commuters and tourists alike throughout Chicago’s waterways. Further, formalized architecture tours, sightseeing tours, private charters and the Riverbus passenger ferry, located just minutes from the Metra and Union Pacific train stations at Madison Street, are also available.

Another valuable website is Chicago Traveler. Here, you will find information on everything from parking garages in the city to a list of museums for every interest.
